Runny Nose

Ash woke up with a runny nose and non-stop sneezing. It was quite bad as her nose was pretty stuffed. I can guess who she caught it from, but sigh...what can we do ?

Lazy Sunday Morning

Caught Ash in this lazy Sunday morning lie on the sofa.

Pee-pee in the Potty

Not sure what happened, Ash woke this morning and decided that she did not want to wear diapers. Instead she wanted to wear shorts which she calls her panties. And guess what, she even peed in her potty. She even woke up from her afternoon nap to pee in the potty before going back to sleep ! We were quite suprised as we have been trying to encourage her to sit on her potty, but we did not expect her to actually do anything in it, let alone 3 times today !! Hopefully this is a sign of her acceptance of the potty.

Pat's will be celebrating CNY on 1st Feb and parents are encouraged to let the kids come to school in New Year clothes. Por-Por bought this set last year which was too big for Ash then, but it seems she'll be able to wear it this year.

And now it's the left eye

Need I say more ? Ash woke up this morning, complaining that her left eye hurt. Took a look and saw crusted discharge at the side of her eye. Since we already had an appointment to see an eye specialist at KKH today, we just went ahead and brought her in.
Diagnosis : Likely mild infection, since there was no swelling and she was still active. Just continue with her current medication.

On a happier note, Ash sitting like a kopi-tiam Ah pek.

How does one adminsiter eye drops to a 2 year old ?

How ? This is not a one-man job, there is no way that one person can administer eye-drops to a child. Firstly there are the hands that are constantly trying to ward off the eye-drops. Secondly, there is the death roll, similar to when a crocodile captures a prey. Thirdly, when you have managed to hold her hands in place and prevented her from doing the death roll, you still have to deal with the tightly shut eyes. There has got to be an easier way. Or do we have live by the age old adage " They'll grow out of this phase " ? If so, I certainly hope she doesn't come down with an eye infection again.

Eye Infection

It's only a week into 2008 and she's down with her first ailment. When we got home, Viv noticed that her right eye looked a little red, but then we thought it could have been from her crying. Then at about 1am, Ash woke up crying, saying her eyes hurt and that they were sticky. There was some discharge coating her eye lashes. So as usual, off we went to KKH (we should get a members' card for thre number of times we've been there). The attending doctor confirmed that it was an infection and prescibed antibiotic eyedrops and a cream. She has to be off school for 4-5 days.

Defiance

Ash's defiance grows day by day. She has learnt to make the obscene sign; placing her thumb between her index and forefinger and pointing it at anyone who angers her and saying "fire". We're guessing that she may have learnt this from her "new" friend, Ryan.
This evening was the most defiant I've seen her since she started her T2 phase. She cried, shouted, threw a tantrum, tried to beat Viv with her teddy bear, despite the fact that Viv had the cane in hand. Maybe she caught me in a foul mood today, but I was not going to let her get away with such indiscipline. After a stern talking to and the threat of a caning, she quietened down. She was that close to a getting it from me, as much as I hate to do something like this, she has to learn what's right and what's wrong, but more importantly, she has to understand discipline.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

It's been some 2 years since we last attended Watch Night Service. This year was a little bit special as we were bringing Ashley to attend her first ever Watch Night Service. The Service was due to begin at 11pm. I've decided to list down all her activities right up to the end of the service.

9:45pm - fell asleep at home
10:15pm - changed her while she slept
10:30pm - carried her to the car, she slept in Viv's arms
10:45pm - arrived at Church, carried her from the car to the Sanctuary, found our seats, she slept
11:00pm - Service started, and amidst singing of hymns, she slept
11:15pm - 11:55pm - instead of a sermon, Pastor showed a video clip, she slept
12 midnight - HAPPY NEW YEAR, once again amidst the singing of Auld Lang Syne, cheering, laughter, she slept.
12:15am - Holy Communion, she slept.
12:50am - Service over and as we were walking back to the car, Ash woke sleepily and asked " Daddy, where Ashley going ?"
